A wide cream-gold border frames a warm brown field of cream scrolls and flowers on this hand-knotted wool Peshawar rug. Seen here are pale blue accents in the border and the corners, with rounded, repeating vines that give the center an open, easy rhythm. The colors look soft and worn in. A dense pile springs back after foot traffic on this traditional Peshawar rug.
Individually woven by skilled artisans, each rug is a truly one-of-a-kind piece. This authentic craftsmanship results in a distinct work of art built to last for generations.
Construction: Hand-knotted from wool, selected for its resilience and its ability to hold rich color and definition across the pattern.
Care & Maintenance: Vacuum regularly using suction only, avoiding a rotating beater bar. Blot spills immediately with a dry cloth, and rotate the rug periodically to distribute wear evenly. Professional cleaning is recommended to keep the pile looking its best.

Story Behind the Art: Hand-knotted rugs are Pakistan's second-largest cottage and small industry that began as early as the 11th century under the Mughal rule. The craftsmen have the capacity to produce any type of rug using all the popular motifs of guls, medallions, paisleys (botehs), traceries, and geometric designs in various combinations. While the "stone washes" are used to fade and soften colors, the Peshawar style is characterized by a thinly sheered pile, large print designs, and most predominantly, their antique ivory and sometimes golden tones.
