Repeating palmettes and leafy cartouches define this transitional hand-knotted Peshawar rug. Showcased here is a dense, warm brown central field with repeating rows of palmettes, cartouches, and interconnected vine lattices. Soft beige, tan, and delicate aqua blue accents run across the inner field and into the broad cream-beige main border. Hand-knotted from natural wool yarns over a solid cotton warp, the plush pile and fine fringe give this Peshawar wool rug natural stain resistance and strong structure.
Individually woven by skilled artisans, each rug is a truly one-of-a-kind piece. This authentic craftsmanship results in a distinct work of art built to last for generations.
Construction: Hand-knotted from wool, selected for its resilience and its ability to hold rich color and definition across the pattern.
Care & Maintenance: Vacuum regularly using suction only, avoiding a rotating beater bar. Blot spills immediately with a dry cloth, and rotate the rug periodically to distribute wear evenly. Professional cleaning is recommended to keep the pile looking its best.

Story Behind the Art: Hand-knotted rugs are Pakistan's second-largest cottage and small industry that began as early as the 11th century under the Mughal rule. The craftsmen have the capacity to produce any type of rug using all the popular motifs of guls, medallions, paisleys (botehs), traceries, and geometric designs in various combinations. While the "stone washes" are used to fade and soften colors, the Peshawar style is characterized by a thinly sheered pile, large print designs, and most predominantly, their antique ivory and sometimes golden tones.
