Chobi rugs take their name from the plant dyes used to color the wool, and the mellow, sun-washed quality of the palette here is the direct result. A soft aqua-blue field carries an allover pattern of palmettes, curling vines, and open rosettes in ivory and warm tan, framed by a wide cream border of leafy sprays and lightly tinted blossoms. The wool is superfine and the knotting close, so the drawing stays delicate across a nine by twelve. Vegetable-dyed rugs also age well, softening over time rather than fading unevenly.
Individually woven by skilled artisans, each rug is a truly one-of-a-kind piece. This authentic craftsmanship results in a distinct work of art built to last for generations.
Care Natural dyes are more sensitive to strong sun than synthetic ones, so rotate the rug once a year and draw blinds in a bright room. Vacuum weekly, blot spills at once, and choose a cleaner who is used to handling vegetable-dyed rugs.
Construction Hand-knotted in superfine wool colored with natural plant dyes, in the Chobi Peshawar tradition. Fine wool and a close knot count are what allow the small rosettes and vine work to read clearly at this scale.

Chobi rugs have a rich lineage rooted in Persian, Turkman and Afghan cultures. Woven in the Peshawar region of Pakistan, these rugs reflect the rugged terrain they are manufactured in. In fact, the word 'Chobi' signifies colors of wood. So, it is highly significant that the majority of Chobi rugs have brownish hue. This rug has been made with vegetable dye and finest quality of hand-spun lanolin rich wool. It is the use of such vegetable dyes that give Chobi Peshawar their distinctive abrash quality (gently wavering shades of color across the pile), and their distinctive character.
