A loose honeycomb lattice fractures and dissolves across a light gold ground, its cells filled with aqua, olive, gray, and ivory and outlined in a bold black that breaks apart at the edges. The soft blue border pulls the whole thing back into shape with abstracted botanical forms, so a design that feels improvised still has structure holding it together. It borrows the Oushak sense of scale and very little else from tradition. Hand-knotted in pure wool with a substantial pile.
Individually woven by skilled artisans, each rug is a truly one-of-a-kind piece. This authentic craftsmanship results in a distinct work of art built to last for generations.
Care
Vacuum weekly, since the pale gold ground will show soil sooner than the patterned areas. Rotate twice a year, and blot spills immediately with a clean white cloth.
Construction
Hand-knotted in wool with a substantial pile. Loose, broken drawing like this depends on the weaver following a design rather than a strict grid, which is why the lines vary in weight across the field.

Story Behind the Art: Oushak Rugs, originating in the west-central Anatolian town of Oushak in Turkey, are renowned for their exceptional texture, expansive design and elegant style. These rugs are made using a family of designs that originate in Ushak, Turkey. TheyÕre recognizable for their large-scale designs and are typically based on geometric motifs with central medallion drawings, smaller all-over medallions or scattered sprays of vine scroll and palmettes. Made from lustrous wool, they favor muted earth tones and are extremely versatile.
