Rooted in the prestigious weaving traditions of Peshawar, this transitional piece renders soft floral vine-and-palmette motifs in a subtle tone-on-tone layout. Master craftspeople hand-knot high-grade wool over a sturdy cotton warp, crafting an exceptionally dense, velvety pile built to last through generations of daily living. Whispers of muted gray, taupe, and earth tones drift across a creamy ivory field, bringing a soft, understated richness that enhances modern interiors without overwhelming them. Individually woven by skilled artisans, each rug is a truly one-of-a-kind piece. This authentic craftsmanship results in a distinct work of art built to last for generations. • Construction: Hand-knotted from high-grade wool over a sturdy cotton warp, chosen for its dense, velvety pile and lasting durability. • Care & Maintenance: Vacuum regularly using suction only, avoiding a rotating beater bar. Blot spills immediately with a dry cloth, and rotate the rug periodically to keep the tone-on-tone pattern wearing evenly. Professional cleaning is recommended to preserve the ivory field's softness. Story Behind the Art: Hand-knotted rugs are Pakistan's second-largest cottage and small industry that began as early as the 11th century under the Mughal rule. The craftsmen have the capacity to produce any type of rug using all the popular motifs of guls, medallions, paisleys (botehs), traceries, and geometric designs in various combinations. While the "stone washes" are used to fade and soften colors, the Peshawar style is characterized by a thinly sheered pile, large print designs, and most predominantly, their antique ivory and sometimes golden tones.
