Woven in Kerman at an impressive density of 300 knots per square inch, this antique Persian carpet reflects the extraordinary refinement and technical mastery associated with upper tier Kerman weaving. The design centers on a dramatic shield shaped ivory medallion surround set against a rare emerald green field, creating one of the most visually striking color combinations found within traditional Persian carpet design. Within the ivory medallion surround unfolds an intricate floral lattice rendered in pale blue, while a delicate quatrefoil medallion in ivory and coral anchors the center with remarkable precision. The relationship between the bold emerald field and refined floral detailing creates a sophisticated balance between grandeur and delicacy. A wide ivory and gold border filled with architectural floral cartouches in navy, pale blue, coral, and red frames the composition magnificently. Vegetable dyed wool gives the emerald green exceptional depth and natural richness developed only through age and oxidation. Though antique, the carpet remains structurally sound with professionally restored moth damaged areas and even low pile throughout, preserving its authenticity while ensuring practical usability.

Sarouk rugs from central Iran are celebrated for their lush floral artistry, graceful medallion compositions, and richly saturated colors. Woven throughout the Arak and Farahan regions, these carpets became especially popular during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries as demand for Persian rugs expanded internationally. Earlier Sarouk examples often featured intricate all over Herati and floral patterns, while later designs evolved into more spacious layouts with detached blossoms and elegant sprays floating across open fields. This softer and more decorative composition became one of the defining visual signatures of the Sarouk tradition. Rich crimson reds, navy blues, ivory, rose, coral, and gold tones dominate traditional Sarouk palettes, creating interiors filled with warmth and sophistication. Combining decorative versatility with refined Persian craftsmanship, Sarouk rugs remain among the most admired Oriental carpets in the world.
